BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday spoke about the state of Tamil Andu politics following the demise of Chief Minister Jayalalithaa and said that there was no BJP leader in the state who could be accepted by the people. He then spoke about the new Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, O Panneerselvam and said that the AIADMK would split up if Panneer fails do what Sasikala tells him to.
Earlier yesterday, Swamy had said that Jayalalithaa had a huge admiration for his scholarship. She respected his knowledge abilities, but the evil influence of Sasikala Natarajan ruined all that. She had total control over Jayalalithaa. Whenever they came together or had a political alliance, Sasikala would intervene and put a spanner into it. Swamy said that they broke up several times because of Sasikala, who tried to blame me for things that went wrong. She was an evil influence over Jayalalithaa all through her political career, said Swamy. Speaking about the lows Jayalalithaa faced during her political career, Swamy cited the incident where after the decimation of AIADMK in 1996, she was devastated. She went to him seeking help to rebuild the party and take on the DMK led by M Karunanidhi. He obliged her request and we formed an alliance. In the 1998 Lok Sabha election, Swamy won from Madurai. Jayalalithaa went on to join the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government at the Centre.
