Dilip Kumar is hale & hearty! Legendary actor tweets pictures from Lilavati hospital

The 93-year-old legendary actor Dilip Kumar is recovering well at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai.

The 93-year-old legendary actor Dilip Kumar is recovering well at the Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. Dilip Saab posted pictures on Twitter from the hospital much to the delight of his fans who a worrying over his health condition. The veteran actor was admitted on Wednesday morning after he complained of fever and swelling in his right leg. His wife and actress Saira Banu who does not take a chance with his ailments, be it major or minor got Dilip saab hospitalised. The actor is few days short of celebrating his 94th birthday celebrations on December 11 gave a health scare to his followers after he was admitted to the hospital. In a series of tweets, Dilip Kumar updated on his health condition, writing ‘Feeling much better now. Was admitted to Lilavati hospital for routine checkup. Your prayers are with me.’ He was kept under observation with a team of doctors attending him.  The megastar thanked the doctors on duty by tweeting, ‘A wonderful team of doctors here along with my personal physicians Dr. S Ghokale, Dr. Nitin Ghokale and Dr. R. Sharma.’ Dilip Kumar’s third and final tweet was dedicated to his fans who wholeheartedly wish for his speedy recovery. He wrote, ‘Health is wealth said somebody. Mein aap sabhi ka mashkoor hoon ki aapne hamesha apni dua’on mein mujhe yaad rakha.’

Earlier in the day, Dilip Saab’s wife and yesteryear actress Saira Banu spoke to Bombay Times sharing an update on legendary actor’s health condition. She said, “I was anyway planning to take him for a routine check-up, but the swelling alarmed me. He was also complaining of cold and cough. I don’t ignore anything even remotely suspicious when it comes to Dilip Saab’s health.” The 72-year-old actress further added, “The doctors are examining him; he’s under observation. He’s very comfortable with the team here. I just hope there is nothing serious. Inshallah, I will take him home before his birthday on Sunday.”

Born as Mohammad Yusuf Khan but he adopted the screen name of Dilip Kumar. Dilip Kumar has had an illustrious career spanning over six decades. The actor is known for iconic movies like Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas, Madhumati, Ganga Jamuna, Ram Aur Shyam and others. Courtesy his memorable roles in tragic love stories like as Nadiya Ke Paar (1948), Andaz (1949), Babul (1950), Arzoo (1950), Deedar (1951) among others earned Dilip Kumar the title of ‘The Tragedy King’. Dilip Kumar has been awarded Indian honours such as Padma Bhushan (1991), Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1994), Padma Vibhushan (2015) and Nishan-e-Imtiaz (1997), Pakistan’s highest civilian honour.
