KOZHIKODE: Police have agreed to preserve the bodies of
Kuppu Devaraj and Ajitha, the
two Maoists who were killed in firing in the
Nilambur forest, till December 9.
The bodies are kept at the mortuary of the
Kozhikode Medical College hospital here. The plea to conduct a re-postmortem examination on the bodies was dismissed by the Manjeri sessions court. The human rights organizations are planning to move the high court against the verdict.
On Tuesday social activist A Vasu filed a petition to the authorities to hand over the body of Ajitha to him as no one has come forward to claim it.
The police, however, refused the application as body can be handed over only to persons having blood relation. Brother of Kuppu Devaraj requested to give two more days to claim the body citing difficulties in transporting the body to his native village in
Tamil Nadu due the demise of Jayalalithaa.
