Four ATMs in Sector 32 are Alibaba’s cave

Gurgaon: Sangeeta Haldar from Tikli village had heard about the Oriental Bank of Commerce (OBC) ATM in Sector 32 from her husband for quite a few days. Her husband had visited the ATM thrice already. On Tuesday, he made his fourth visit, with Sangeeta in tow.
The reason for the repeated visits is that the four ATM machines installed there appear to have cash almost all the time.“My husband used to work nearby, and he knew this particular branch almost never runs out of money,” said Haldar.
Ali Hassan, who lives in Pataudi, had a similar story. . “I used to work in the industrial area nearby, and I knew this ATM always has cash. Hence, I came here all the way from Pataudi.” .
When TOI visited the spot, the queue was long with almost 150 people waiting to withdraw. Sources said on weekends the queue is almost as long as 1.5 km. In the last four weeks, post November 8, these four ATMs have dispensed Rs 15.6 crore against 78,000 withdrawals, bank officials told TOI
“The ATM accepts cards from all banks, and we ensure cash availability all the time.,” said an OBC representative. He said this being OBC’s all-India headquarters, besides being the bank’s Gurgaon district currency chest, they are better supplied with cash, and keep topping up the ATMs round the clock.
Not everyone was as effusive, though. A few people in the queue said they have been disappointed at the ATMs in the past. . OBC officials, however, rubbished the claims.
