NASHIK: Yash Mohan Pawar (17) has bagged the second position in the final round of indoor motor sports organised by Federation of Motor Sports Club of India (FMSCI) on Sunday at Bengaluru.
Yash also bagged the Best of Three title in all the three categories. He stood third in the SX1 Open Forum Category Group A, second in each of the SX1 Open Forum Category Group B and SX2 Private Forum.
FMCI organises international indoor motor racing sports events for which participants need to have a licence issued by them and a regular licence from the Regional Transport Authority is not mandatory.
“Yash is the first rider from Nashik to bag the Best of Three title,” said his father Mohan, who is an auto driver.
Yash said there was a tie between him and a rider from Pune and the overall score was considered for the first position. Six rounds are held for the championship beginning from Goa, Coimbatore, Delhi, Jaipur, Pune and Bengaluru. “The Pune rider and me scored 148 points during the championship in Bengaluru.”
Yash rode a Kawasaki 250 for which his father sold his bike and the remaining amount was sponsored. “I developed the passion since childhood. I am at present pursuing my education in the same field. I'm studying in first year diploma in Automobile Engineering,” Yash said.
He added, “It all began when we first saw him ride his mother's motorcycle at the age of nine without any training.”
