AMRITSAR: The December 8 Sarbat Khalsa planned by radical Sikh groups has gotten support from across the border.
Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) president Tara Singh and former PSGPC president Bishan Singh have appealed to Sikhs around the world to participate in the Sikh gathering planned in Talwandi Sabo. “We have heard that the Punjab government is trying to stop Sikhs form attending the Sarbat Khalsa.
This upsetting for Sikhs living around the Globe, especially those in Pakistan,” he said.
Tara Singh has also asked Sikhs to reach Talwandi Sabo to attend the event. However, sources said that intelligence agencies here are reading the support from Pakistan as an attempt by ISI to defame India in the backdrop of Pakistan foreign advisor Sartaj Aziz’s unceremonious return from Amritsar.
Claiming that he had attended last year’s Sarbat Khalsa held at Chabbha near Amritsar, Bishan Singh said Sikhs from Pakistan would also come to attend the Sarbat Khalsa in Talwandi Sabo. “PSGPC appeals to Sikhs living in Pakistan, India and elsewhere to reach Talwandi Sabo in large numbers to attend the Sarbat Khalsa and scuttle the efforts of Indian government to create obstacles in holding a religious gathering,” said Bishan.
