She might have come from a completely filmi background, yet for actress Tejaswini Prakash, acting was never her first choice. While her father is known in the industry for being the go-to stuntman for more than 15 years, her mother is also an artiste.
Tejaswini, rose to fame for her roles in films like Gaja, Mathad Mathad Mallige, and many more. Now, the traditional beauty is back to haunt the audience on the silver screen with Dieyana House directed by Bharath Nanda, which is set for release soon.
Tejaswini talks about journey so far even as her Telugu film Kannullo Nee Roopame is in the final stages, and about her small screen debut in the Kannada serial Niharika directed by Vinu Balanja, and much more.
“Initially, I was unsure about acting, and I never dreamt of becoming an actress but when I finally started, acting was all I was doing! So far, I have done good work and have no regrets even though many in the industry are of the opinion that I have chosen the wrong kind of films in my early years. When I decided to become an actor, my only attempt was to be a good actor and do my best,” says a candid Tejaswini Prakash.
Sharing about her “haunting” experience from her upcoming Bharat Nanda’s Dieyana House, the actress says that she was impressed with the script and had always wanted to act in a horror film.
“What impressed me the most was that the horror element is not illogically placed, which has become a sort of cliche today. In this film, the director presented it so well that the ghosts or devil as a horror element are logical. They do not come as a surprise nor do they appear and disappear — their presence makes sense,” she says, adding that the story revolves around a haunted house which is for sale and it also highlights how helping each other, rather than waiting for a miracle to happen in times of distress, is the way forward.
Reminiscing about Mathadu Mathadu Mallige, Tejaswini says, “When Nagathihalli Chandrashekar Sir called me for a movie to portray one of the daughters to Dr Visnuvardhan Sir and Suhasini Maniratnam Madam, I could not believe it. I was extremely happy. Working with such legends at such an early stage in my career was truly a blessing. Though, I hardly spoke to Vishnu Sir on the sets, I would observe his mannerism, and even his silence spoke a lot. I learnt a lot by just observing him. His eyes did most of the work for him. He is simply inspirational. I am excited that apart from Dieyana House, my Telugu film Kannullo Nee Roopame is in the final stages as well. I have a great feeling about this one, and I am sure that it will do well.”
About the alleged link-ups including a recent one with a star actor, choreographer-turned-director, the actress clears the air, “I do not care about any such rumours or gossip about me. I only care what my family and close friends think of me. They know me very well and that is what matters. In fact, if they come across any such gossips, they call me and comfort me.”
