Attacking Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for his critical comments on construction of parks and memorials and installation of elephants during the BSP government, BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday said “Babua (child)” was doing “free publicity” of her party’s election symbol.

“Babua is repeatedly saying that BSP’s elephants are standing for the past several years and have not moved one inch. It seems the elephants are tormenting him even in his dreams. But that’s good for us – he is doing free publicity of our election symbol before the polls,” Mayawati said at her Lucknow rally. “I want to ask him whether statues installed at Lohia Park and Janeshwar Misra Park under the SP governments keep changing their locations.”

The BSP chief has started referring to Akhilesh as ‘Babua’ in response to the chief minister addressing her as “Bua’ (aunt).

Mayawati also criticised what she called the Akhilesh government’s flip-flop whether to keep B R Ambedkar’s death anniversary as a public holiday. Pointing out that the Akhilesh government had declared December 6 as a holiday this year, after having scrapped it in its inaugural year in office in 2012, the BSP leader said, “This proves he is really a Babua.”
