UPNL employees’ protest for regular jobs goes on

DEHRADUN: Employees of the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Nigam Limited (UPNL) continued with their protest, demanding job regularisation in government departments, here today.

Employees of the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Nigam Limited (UPNL) continued with their protest, demanding job regularisation in government departments, here today. The protesters threatened to intensify the stir if Congress-led state government failed to accede to their demand.

The agitators, under the banner of the UPNL Employees’ Association, gathered at the Raipur bus stand and marched towards the residence of Chief Minister Harish Rawat. The protesters raised slogans against the state government.

The police placed barricades on Subash Road to stop them, following which the protesters staged a sit in. They said the state government had done nothing to fulfill their pending demands.

Bhawesh Jagudi, state president of the UPNL Employees’ Association, said they had been protesting for the last couple of days, but the government didn’t accede to their demands.

Mahesh Bhatt, Deepak Chauhan, Karan Rawat, Vipin Negi, Manoj Semwal, Bharat Bhushan, Krishan, Jaipal Panwar and Rakesh Singh Negi were among the protesters.
