Udupi: A five-member team from
GSB community is organizing a
Bullet rally to create awareness on
Rashtra Rakhsha Nidhi, a fund to serve soldiers wounded in wars. The rally started from Goa on November 27 and reached
Mulki on November 30. It will start its second leg from Mulki on December 10, and will reach Kerala in the next two days.
Goa CM Laxmikanth Parsekar flagged off the rally, in which, Bullets will be ridden by Rajath Shenoy and Karthik Pai from Karkala, Ram Chandra Bhat from Kundapura, Param Bharadwaj from Mangaluru, Stanly Fernandez and Manjunath Kamath.
Though all of them come from different professions, the idea of serving Indian soldiers brought them together.
“For the past five years, we have been organizing different social welfare programmes. We understand that our society can be strong only if the country is strong. So we decided to launch the mission called ‘Nation first.’ We plan to collect Rs 360 from everyone under Rashtra Raksha Nidhi through demand drafts. We will hand over the amount to defence minister Manohar Parrikar during the GSB convention scheduled for December 27,” Kamath told TOI.
