Tweets revealing Canadian rapper Drake’s latest album track list, and Justin Bieber’s simple thank you message on his 22nd birthday, were among the most retweeted posts in Canada for 2016, according to new data released by Twitter on Tuesday.

Bieber’s post thanking his fans on his birthday had almost 187,000 retweets, while Drake’s announcement of the release date and track list for his long-anticipated album, Views, also made the top five most retweeted posts.

But the most retweeted Canadian-made tweet this year was about our neighbours south of the border. The tweet, posted on the Sunday before the U.S. election, is a humorous tribute to Barack Obama’s U.S. presidency. At present, it has been retweeted nearly 255,000 times.

While Canadians tweeted about major global events such as the Rio 2016 Olympics, Pokemon Go and the U.S. election, mental health rose as an important topic for Canadians.

Bell Media’s mental health initiative #BellLetsTalk was the most popular hashtag in Canada this year and #MentalHealth also made the top 10. Bell donated five cents for every tweet and Facebook post that used the #BellLetsTalk hashtag, which resulted in nearly $6.3 million raised for mental health initiatives.
