Actress who played Cleveland Indians owner in 'Major League' passes away

Actress Margaret Whitton, who played villainous Cleveland Indians owner Rachel Phelps in "Major League" and its sequel, passed away at 67 on Sunday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In the original "Major League" in 1989, Phelps, a Las Vegas Showgirl who became the Indians owner, famously rooted for the the team to fail so she could move team to Miami (of course, this was before Florida got a team and later rebranded). Phelps' desire for the team to bottom out inspired the Indians' resurgence and this popular montage:

Whitton is also known for her roles in "The Man Without a Face" and the Michael J. Fox-led "The Secret of My Success."

She was also a stage actress who focused on theater and later film directing after leaving an acting career in 1994.
