JAIPUR: A 17-year-old boy studying in grade 12 in a private school in Karni Vihar locality in the city committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling of tin shed in his house late on Monday evening.
The boy in his suicide note has mentioned that he was being constantly pressurised by two of his school teachers for taking private tuitions which he could not afford. The boy identified as Banwari belonged to Bhopatpura village in Sikar district and was living in a rented accommodation with his brother.

According to the police, the incident took place during early hours when brother of the deceased went off to sleep after offering him tea. “It came to his notice at 1.30 am on Tuesday when he woke up to attend nature’s call and did not find his brother Banwari in the room. He came out and saw him hanging from the ceiling of tin shed outside the room,” said a senior police officer of Karni Vihar police station.
Police team rushed to the spot with an ambulance and took the body for the post mortem. “We have received a suicide note from the spot in which the student has mentioned that two of his school teachers in class 12th were pressurizing him to take private tuitions from them, else they threatened of giving him poor marks in the practical exam. The boy told them that he can’t afford tuition since his father is working as daily wages labourer at the Mohana Mandi in the city,” the officer added.
Police said that the student has also mentioned the names of the teachers. “He has also mentioned their names but we are not giving details on it. Both of them would be interrogated on the matter and a Forensic science laboratory(FSL) investigation of the letter would be done,” said Jeetendra Kumar, investigating officer of the case told TOI.
The family was stunned as the deceased Banwari was good at studies and scored good marks in class Xth and XIth despite coming from a very poor background.
Police have also registered a case of abatement of suicide against two teachers of the private school under appropriate sections of IPC. “They would be summoned for the interrogation into the matter,” said an officer.
