Remember when Lee Trundle was the Football League's equivalent of Ronaldinho? Well it turns out he has lost none of his flamboyant flair with age.

Swansea City might want to consider an emergency move for their former striker after footage emerged of him scoring a fantastically elaborate penalty.

The Liverpudlian, who was eligible to play for Ireland through his Irish-born grandfather, became a club icon during his four years at the Liberty Stadium between 2003 and 2007.

Trundle, who also had spells at Wrexham, Bristol City and Leeds United, scored 78 goals in 146 appearances for the Welsh club.

With his former club struggling at the root of the Premier League table, under-fire manager Bob Bradley.

The 40-year-old is currently playing for Welsh Division Two side, Llanelli Town, but if his performance in a recently charity match for Swansea City All Stars is anything to go by, Trundle could be the man to rescue the sinking Swans.

Trundle scored six goals during the match, with the undisputed highlight coming when he dispatched a ludicrously outrageous penalty.

The former Bristol City striker calmly walks up to the spot kick before stopping just before the ball and bending over as if to tie his shoelaces.

At the exact same time, however, Trundle's left foot subtly toe-pokes the ball into the roof of the net - all without the striker lifting his gaze once to the goal once.

The clip has been retweeted over 5,000 times on Twitter leading to calls for the 40-year-old to be offered a short-term Swansea contract.

The charity match was played in support of Carolyn Gammon, a local woman who is battling breast cancer.
