Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Vijay pay tribute to Jayalalithaa at Rajaji Hall, see pics

Tens of thousands of people from across Tamil Nadu have been thronging the Rajaji Hall in Chennai, where the mortal remains of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa have been kept for public viewing. Superstar Rajinikanth along with his family members visited the Rajaji Hall to pay tribute to the AIADMK chief.

Rajinikanth was accompanied by his wife Latha, daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth and son-in-law Dhanush. He also spoke with Jayalalithaa’s close confidante Sasikala Natarajan before leaving. Rajinikanth, in a condolence statement, has termed Jayalalithaa as India’s brave daughter. “Not just Tamil Nadu but the whole of India lost a brave daughter. May her soul rest in peace,” he posted on his Twitter page.

Actor Dhanush said that Jayalalithaa’s death marks the end of an inspirational era in Tamil Nadu politics. “#RIPAmma. The end of THE most inspirational era of Tamilnadu Politics. You leave behind a vast vacuum. #IronLady. #Shattered #empty #darkday,” he tweeted.

Meanwhile, Vijay, Suriya, Simbu and newly elected members of Nadigar Sangam, including Karthi, Vishal, Nazar and Ponvannan, were among who visited the Rajaji Hall to pay tribute to Jayalalithaa. Khushoo, Sundar C, Vijayakumar, Arun Vijay, Revati, Simran also paid their last respects to the late chief minister.

The Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on late Monday evening announced that Jayalalithaa passed away due to prolonged illness. She died a day after the AIADMK leaders announced that AIIMS doctors had confirmed that the Amma has fully recovered and she will be soon discharged from the hospital. However, on Sunday evening she suffered a cardiac arrest, from which she failed to recover.

Jayalalithaa will be laid to rest at around 4.30 pm on Tuesday, close to the memorial of MG Ramachandran, her political mentor.
