STAR Heat batter Beth Mooney is ready to put Saturday’s disappointing national one-day loss behind her, using the start of the Big Bash League as the channel for her frustrations.
The young Queensland sensation had a day to forget on the weekend, after she was caught out on the first ball of the Women’s National Cricket League final against NSW Breakers.
The Fire went on to lose the match by nine wickets.
However, a chance for revenge will come as soon as Sunday, as the Queenslanders head into their second WBBL season with the Heat in a clash against the Sydney Sixers — a side that includes Breakers stars Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy.

READ NOWMooney said she expects a lot of her Heat teammates will look to turn their disappointment into a positive come Sunday.
“It’s still hurting,” she said of the WNCL final. “I was pretty disappointed given how consistent I’ve been all season. But it’s one game of cricket and sometimes it’s just not your day.
“Hopefully everyone is feeling the way I am and we can put that into the games coming up.
“We’ve faced adversity all through the season. We’ll be better for it and we can channel it through the Big Bash and really nail our game.”
In the inaugural season of the WBBL last summer, the Heat failed to make the finals, coming in seventh on the table above the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades.
Mooney said the team put a lot of expectations on themselves and were also distracted by the amount of travel they had to do for the competition.
This time around however, they are much better prepared for what is ahead.
“It’s important that we embrace it all,” she said. “The team that does that the best will go a long way.”
