Being cashless takes toll, cardiac arrest kills man

KANPUR: A 42-year-old farmer died of cardiac arrest in Fatehpur on Sunday night, after not being able to withdraw cash for the wedding ceremony of his daughter.
The 'baraat' is scheduled to come on December 18 from Chakmeerpur village in Thariyaon area of the district.
He was making rounds of local the post office, banks and ATMs for more than a week but could not get cash. A dejected Shyam Sunder returned home on Saturday evening after standing in a queue for hours at the post office in Malwan.
He suffered a massive heart attack on Sunday night and was rushed to district hospital, where he died.
"My brother had been visiting banks for the last one week. On Saturday, he again went to the bank and waited for his turn. Thereafter, villagers made a call on my mobile phone saying that he was feeling unwell. We reached the spot and took him back home," his younger brother Shiv Shankar said. On Sunday, he again suffered a severe heart arrest. The family member took him to the district hospital where he died. The family members claimed that the doctors said he died because of stress and lack of rest and proper food.
Station officer Malwan VP Singh said, "After autopsy, his viscera has been preserved as cause of death is not known yet. The matter is being probed."
