French GP To Make Formula One Comeback In 2018 Season
French GP will be making a comeback to the Formula One Championship in 2018. The Paul Ricard Le Castellet circuit will serve as the French GP for a minimum of five years.
The 2017 Formula One calendar witnessed the omission of the German GP. Now, the French GP is expected to make a full-time comeback from the 2018 Formula One season. Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that talks are ongoing at an advanced stage.
French GP has not been on the Formula One calendar for over a decade. In 2018, Paul Ricard Le Castellet circuit will serve as the venue for the French GP. Plans for 2018 season have been confirmed at a special event organised in Paris, confirming participation for five years in F1.
Paul Ricard circuit owners have wanted to make an F1 comeback for a while now. Unfortunately, funding was an issue and the circuit owners were looking for some sort of assistance. The French Government and other local motorsport bodies have supported the participation.
For 2018, Paul Ricard circuit will undergo minor changes/update. The circuit owners have been asked to increase capacity. At this moment, it is unconfirmed as to which layout will be used for 2018 Formula One French GP.
Romain Grosjean will be extremely happy that he finally gets to race at his home track in 2018. The French-based driver also shared a message via social media expressing his excitement. It will also be a special moment for Renault F1 Team competing at the French GP.
