INDORE: The high court on Monday issued warrants against 12 witnesses scheduled to depose on behalf of Kailash Vijayvargiya during a hearing for an election petition against him.
These 12 witnesses out of a total of 15 had been served notices to appear before court on Monday, after main respondent, Vijayvargiya, submitted the processing fees for them. However, since none of them appeared before the court, Justice Jarat Kumar Jain issued warrants.
Election petition filed by Antar Singh Darbar had been listed for hearing at 10:30am when no one appeared. The court then passed over the matter for hearing at 12:30pm, giving the witnesses time to be present by then. However, even at 12:30pm, when no witnesses appeared, Justice JK Jain passed the order for bailable warrants against the 12.
"There are now 15 witnesses who were asked to appear. However, out of the 15, three are absconding. A service report (confirmation of acceptance of notice by parties) was presented in court which showed that witnessed had received a copy of notice," Vibhor Khandelwal, counsel to the petitioner, said.
