Annapurna Pictures, the production company behind a number of box office hits and critically acclaimed films, is expanding its media coverage with the formation of a videogame label whose first titles look to blend high concept with mainstream appeal. 

Set up in 2011, Annapurna Pictures made a splash by co-financing four impressive picks for 2012: Kathryn Bigelow's hugely acclaimed five-time Academy Award nominee Zero Dark Thirty, Paul Thomas Anderson's triple Oscar nominee, post-World War II drama The Master, and two crime dramas and Cannes contenders in Andrew Dominik's Killing Them Softly and John Hillcoat's Lawless
