'Scrap under-18 marriage provision'
Development organisation Serve the People yesterday urged scrapping a controversial provision in the proposed Child Marriage Restraint Act which allows marriage of under 18 girls under special circumstances.
At the organisation's 26th annual general meeting, former ambassador AKM Farooq said the provision would betray the act's pious intention.
The organisation's Chairman Shahzadi Begum also spoke while Syeda Shehzedi Habib read out a statement of Brac founder Sir Fazle Hasan Abed.
