1,341 registrations deleted from voters’ list at MSU
Vadodara: In a sudden move, M S University on Monday deleted as many as 1,341 registrations from the voters list prepared for the registered graduates’ category polls of university’s senate body which will be held on January 8.
With the university deleting the registrations, now 12,177 names have remained in the electoral list of the registered graduates category for which candidates have already started filing nominations.

Earlier, the university had received as many as 14,720 registrations out of which after scrutiny of forms 12,945 were considered valid while 1,202 registered were declared as invalid on various grounds including that the applications were not properly filled up and proper details weren’t submitted.
Monday’s decision of the university comes after it received objections to the voters list on the grounds that the university had considered even those registrations as valid in which a graduate from outside university had submitted only a photocopy of address proof along with the registration form.
“As per statutory provisions a scanned copy of the original address proof has to be submitted for registrations. Earlier, we had received requests from some groups to accept photocopies. But after we received objections to such names being included in the voters list, we have decided to delete such registrations,” said a university official. The maximum number of registrations - around 600 - have been deleted from Faculty of Science followed by Faculty of Education and Psychology.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Narendra Ravat, who is a sitting senate member, representing Faculty of Technology and Engineering, filed his nomination at the university head office
