Plea to restrain Ansal brothers from leaving country

Plea to restrain Ansal brothers from leaving country
Supreme Court
NEW DELHI: Expressing apprehension that businessmen Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal may flee the country, Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) moved the Supreme Court on Monday to restrain them from going abroad even as the Ansal brothers assured the court they would not leave without its permission.
Citing media reports, the association told a bench of Justices J S Khehar and N V Ramana that Ansal brothers, convicted in the fire tragedy case, were preparing to get out of the country.

“Grave prejudice and irreparable loss would be caused to the applicant/review petitioner (AVUT) if the respondents accused — Sushil Ansal and Gopal Ansal — travel abroad, without seeking necessary permission of this court,” the association said in its petition.
The bench then asked the counsel representing the Ansal brothers to give an undertaking “on instructions from his clients” that they would not leave India till commencement of hearing on review pleas filed by AVUT and CBI in the case.
