Professionalism must in policing, says DGP

DEHRADUN: DGP MA Ganpathy has said there is no shortage of trained and experienced policemen in the state.

DGP MA Ganpathy has said there is no shortage of trained and experienced policemen in the state. He said the state police had advanced communication and latest gadgets to crack cases of crime. He was expressing his views at a two-day police officers’ conference through video conferencing here today.

The DGP said it was the foremost duty of SHOs and police post heads to address grievances of people without delay. He stressed on the need of professional policing.

“A policeman should build honest reputation with residents. Sound coordination with youths is required to maintain law and order. The police should act as a guardian to youngsters,” he said.

A presentation on basic service delivery was jointly presented by the SSPs of Pauri, Udham Singh Nagar, and Nainital, and SPs of Chamoli and Tehri. Another presentation on capacity building and professional competence for recruits was given by ASP Pankaj Gairola during the conference.

IG (law and order) Deepam Seth spoke on preparations for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections.

ADGs RS Meena, AK Raturi, and Ashok Kumar, IG (training) PVK Prasad, IG (Garhwal) Sanjay Gunjyal among other officials were present.
