AMRITSAR: Amritsar Central Jail authorities have lodged a complaint against Charanjit Singh, an undertrial who was recently released on bail, for allegedly trying to sneak in contraband.

Amritsar Central Jail authorities have lodged a complaint against Charanjit Singh, an undertrial who was recently released on bail, for allegedly trying to sneak in contraband. He was arrested by the police with narcotic substances in 2014.

He was arrested by an alert member of the jail staff when he had come to the jail premises on the pretext of meeting another prisoner, Shingara Singh. However, he met another prisoner by faking his identity, said the jail staff. The jail authorities recovered 300 intoxicant tablets from his possession.

On the complaint submitted by Superintendent, Jail, the Gate Hakima police have registered a case under Section 420, IPC, and section 42 of the Prisoners Act. The police also slapped Sections 21, 22, 61, 85 of the NDPS Act against him. He has been arrested.
