Transport Dept to launch e-ticketing, says Panwar

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said the department would soon launch e-ticketing system to promote cashless transactions in the state.

Haryana Transport Minister Krishan Lal Panwar said the department would soon launch e-ticketing system to promote cashless transactions in the state. In the initial phase, the system would be implemented for the services operating along the highway routes.

In a statement issued here today, the minister said information technology should be widely used to put an end to corruption and bring in transparency in the system.

He said the work on was being undertaken at a rapid pace to make all departments, including transport, high-tech under the ‘Digital Haryana’ programme on the pattern of ‘Digital India’. Approval has been accorded for purchasing a Rs 1.35-crore server for making the functioning of the Transport Department online, the minister added.

Panwar said the option of e-payment facility was being offered to the owners of transport vehicles through the State Bank of India for payment of road tax. The facility, launched in July this year, had been made available through e-GRAS in the offices of secretaries, regional transport authorities and the registration authority, he added.

The minister said e-Soochna centres would be established at all bus stands in the state to provide information regarding timetable of buses, routes and tourist destinations. The first such centre had been set up at Kurukshetra, ahead of International Gita Mahotsav-2016, he added.
