The HP State Electricity Board Limited Technical Employees Union today demanded that 18,000 vacant posts of technical staff should be filled at the earliest. Union president Mohan Lal Thakar and general secretary Duni Chand Thakur said as per norms, more than 25,000 technical employees were required to run and look after 600 sub-stations, 27,400 transformers and 95,400 transmission lines in the state. “The board has employed 7,000 employees who are overburdened,” they said.
The union said they would hold a statewide protest if the demand was not met.
