DALLAS -- It was hard to tell if the Dallas Cowboys were happier that they clinched a playoff spot on Sunday or that they were able to deliver gifts and visit some sick children at local hospitals on Monday.

“I say it every year: we should do more of these,” defensive tackle Tyrone Crawford said. “It means a lot to us as players, the cheerleaders, the staff just to come out and put smiles on kids’ faces. We’re giving back, but we’re getting the most.”

The Cowboys visited Children’s Medical Center, Texas Scottish Rite and Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas, as well as Cook’s Children Medical Center in Fort Worth, delivering a sock full of goodies to the kids, while taking photos and signing autographs with the kids. At Children’s Medical Center, Jason Witten, Travis Frederick and Zack Martin got into a dance off video game with three kids.

“Being a father myself, the courage that the parents show and the resiliency of those young kids in the midst of these challenging times, it's a great opportunity to put a smile on their face and allow them to look behind that for a few brief moments,” Witten said. “I'm just amazed at the staff here, the nurses and doctors, how they pour into them on a daily basis is really neat to see that we have this here in Dallas."

Tony Romo was able to avoid the dance off by speaking with young kids and their parents.

“I think we are pretty lucky to be in a situation we can come and make some kids smile,” Romo said. “I have a couple of young boys and so when you see the kids here at the hospital it touches your heart.

It puts everything in perspective about where we are in life and how lucky we are. These kids today were so nice and energetic and had big smiles on their faces. It's really what this time of the season is all about. It was really a great day. We are lucky to be here.”
