AURANGABAD: The civic body is all set to take legal action against a JCB driver who drove the 700mm thick main pipeline at Bidkin throwing city’s water supply out of gear.
The civic body authorities said that they would lodge a police complaint against the man.
A civic body official said, “The JDB driver accidently hit the pipeline which eventually developed a major leakage on the spot.
The accident also forced the municipal authorities to switch of the 700 mm main line for more than 24 hours.”
For the water supply across the city, the civic body draws water from the Jayakwadi dam through two main line one is of the 1200 mm thickness and another one of 700 mm thickness.
K T Dande, a sectional engineer in Auranagabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) said, “As of now our top priority is to repair the line and streamline the supply. But, we will take stern acting against the driver who was the cause of this damage.”
He added, “We are the final stage of our restoration work. The work will be completed by Monday night. We may also switch on the line till late in the evening.”
The accident happened on Sunday when the driver broke the main pipeline throwing the city’s water distribution system out of gear. Though the municipal authorities reached the spot and started repair work they could not complete the task till the time of going to the press.
