Debmar-Mercury and FremantleMedia North America’s syndicated game show Celebrity Name Game will not be renewed for a fourth season, the producers confirmed.
Executive produced by Courteney Cox and David Arquette’s Coquette Productions, and hosted by comedian Craig Ferguson, the show will wrap up in 2017 after three seasons airing on Tribune Broadcasting and Sinclair Broadcast Group networks in the U.S.
No details were provided on the reason behind the decision to end the show, for which Ferguson won two Daytime Emmy Awards in 2015 and 2016 for Outstanding Game Show Host.
Fremantle confirmed already produced seasons are still able to be sold internationally, as is the game-show format.
“We’ve had a wonderful time producing Celebrity Name Game and we are exceptionally proud of its three seasons in syndication. While we are not renewing in syndication at this time, it is a format we believe in,” Jennifer Mullin, co-CEO of Fremanmantle Media North America, told realscreen in an email.
The show teamed participants with celebrities and challenged teams to identify famous figures through improvised clues.
“We’re incredibly proud of Celebrity Name Game and grateful to the terrific fan base that has supported the show for three seasons. We thank everyone who has contributed to its run,” said Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein.
The show was short-listed in the Shiny Floor Game Show competition at the 2015 Realscreen Awards.
