The breakup of Owens and his best friend, Chris Jericho, is on the horizon and Reigns is the one to blame for it. At WWE's last PPV of the year, Roadblock: End of the Line, Owens and Jericho has their hands full. KO will face Reigns for the Universal title while Y2J battles Seth Rollins.

According to Cageside Seats, there are plans for Owens to drop the title to The Big Dog at Roadblock: End of the Line. Some top WWE officials reportedly want Reigns to be a "double champion" just like Conor McGregor.

Of course, these are just speculations at the moment and nothing has been confirmed. The WWE is risking a lot if they give Reigns another title run. The crowd will surely become ballistic again and the company does not want that with WrestleMania 33 season approaching.

There is a big chance that Owens will retain the title at Roadblock: End of the Line. He might feud with Jericho before getting his next feud for WrestleMania 33. One of the scenarios being speculated is Owens vs. Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn for the WWE Universal championship, per Four3Four.com.

The report noted that Zayn is in line for a big push before WrestleMania 33. The reason for him being fed to Braun Strowman is to create a big shock when he wins the Royal Rumble Match. He will then earn an opportunity to fight Owens plus the return of Balor.

It should be noted that The Demon King is still rehabbing his injured shoulder but he might be cleared to return early next year. There are rumors stating that Balor could return at the Rumble and win it. Nevertheless, these are just purely speculative and the WWE tends to change their plans frequently.

Owens vs. Balor vs. Zayn was one of the original matches planned for an NXT TakeOver event last year. However, it was scrapped since Zayn suffered a shoulder injury and Owens was called up to the main roster.
