Dhaakad making: Not just Aamir Khan, even his Dangal girls undergo deadly training, watch video

Would a film taste success if only its lead actor works hard? Could be. But Aamir Khan and Nitesh Tiwari wanted to make sure that the tag of being a perfectionist is justified not only by the superstar but also the other core members of the film – newbies Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, The two girls depict the entire journey of Aamir’s character in the film. Dangal is a story of women empowerment and a father who believed in his daughters. Hence, it makes sense that the focus is on his on-screen daughters. While Aamir plays wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat, Fatima and Sanya play Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat. But portraying a wrestler on screen is not a cake walk.

Aamir Khan and the makers of Dangal take us through the deadly schedule and transformation of how Sanya and Fatima got into the skin of Geeta and Babita. In fact, the same schedule was followed by child artists, Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar, who play young Sanya and Fatima. Sanya, in the video is sharing how all the four girls had to undergo training for 9 months and they would wrestle six days a week. It was an Olympian level training, which gives us a fair idea about the challenges all these actors faced during their transformation.

Sanya says that they did not speak a word about their pain for a long time as they feared that they might lose the opportunity. Fatima says that she was so badly injured during the shoot that the entire schedule had to be pushed a bit forward because of her, but Nitesh (the director) was extremely proud of the fact that she managed to look like a tigress on screen even though she was in extreme pain. It wasn’t just Nitesh who was impressed but even Aamir seemed equally happy with the efforts of all the four girls in the film.

Aamir says how none of them had any hope with Zaira as she was comparatively very weak. But the actor adds he was completely awestruck when on the day of shoot, she gave a smashing performance with full force. Nitesh said that Sanya’s transformation was not needed to be at such a high level as her fight sequence is quite short but he was taken aback with the kind of dedication she showed towards being true to her character. Well, if you watch the video then our words might just fall short.
