BRISBANE Roar assistant coach Ross Aloisi has slammed Melbourne City and denounced the gamesmanship of Brisbane defender Jade North as the fallout from the teams’ 1-1 weekend draw at AAMI Park continues.

In an explosive edition of The Courier-Mail’s A-League A-List podcast, Aloisi doesn’t hold back in criticism of City, particularly taking aim at coach John van ’t Schip and guest marquee star Tim Cahill.

“(Van ’t Schip) had plenty of chances to say whatever he wanted to my face or my brother’s (head Roar coach John Aloisi’s) face the other night, but didn’t have the courage,” Ross said in taking the City coach to over his pre-match comments aimed at the Roar coach.

“(It’s) easy to talk in the newspaper, (but) pretty hard to talk when it’s face-to-face.”

Aloisi also defended himself over accusations from van ’t Schip that he threw a ball into the face of City defender Josh Rose.

“I know Josh Rose and I even said sorry to Josh Rose. he said ‘not a problem’ … it was John van ’t Schip that came out off the bench and blew up and carried on.

“The way I live my life is if you’re going to have a go at me, I’m going to have a go back.”

Cahill’s antics on the bench also left Aloisi unimpressed.

“We can mention Tim Cahill telling my brother to stop talking and to shut up and to get lost, hand gestures … I don’t understand where that came from,” he said

“If our players conducted themselves that way, we’d be very disappointed with our players. It’s not in our nature, it’s not in our culture.”

However, Aloisi hinted the Roar were disappointed with North’s act of gamesmanship in going to ground after slight contact from City skipper Bruno Fornaroli.

The incident will today be reviewed by the Roar as well as the A-League’s match review panel.

“With the Jade North incident … we don’t condone players going to ground,” Aloisi said.

“John is dealing with it in house. He will be speaking to the whole team.”
