A video of a strange-looking animal has gone massively viral on social media networks.

The video claimed that strange creatures were caught along the Kerala-Karnataka border on November 30.

The message accompanying the video said that four such animals were killing all animals in the forest, including humans. It was further claimed that only one of the four has been caught.

Needless to say that the video has the potential to create a scare in the border areas of Kerala and Karnataka.

So here's the truth:

The video was of a diseased sun bear, a native of Borneo, Malyasia and had first surfaced on the internet in January last year.

Interestingly, the locals in Borneo had also taken it as an alien and had pelted the poor creature with stones. A healthy sun bear sports a dark fur.

The entire incident once again highlights the disturbing trend of people sharing unauthenticated/fake news on social media.

If you get to see any such news on your social media account, it is advisable that you should check its authenticity before sharing with your friends.
