TV, ad film actor found murdered at her residence in Villivakkam

CHENNAI: A 49-year-old small-time actor was found murdered at her house in Periyar Street at Saligramam on Sunday. The deceased was identified as D Jayaseeli. A spinster, she had acted in TV serials and commercials.
Neighbours alerted the police when a foul smell emanated from Jayaseeli's house on Sunday afternoon. Police rushed to the spot and found her naked body on the bed.The house's gate was locked from outside and the main door was half open.
The imitation jewellery she was wearing was intact, but her cell phone was missing, police said.
Police said Jayaseeli had been living in a first floor flat for the past six years. She was alone in her house after her younger brother Prem Ku mar went to Salem -their native place -last month. Police suspect Jayaseeli might have been smothered with a pillow.
They said the murderer had sprayed perfume before leaving, to conceal the bad smell. Police said the murderer might be someone known to her as there was no forced entry.
Neighbours last saw Jayaseeli on Friday evening. She had returned from her hometown last week after visiting her ailing mother Philomina.
Meanwhile, her brother Selvaraj, who works with the Salem corporation, reached her home, as she had not picked up his phone calls since Friday evening. He told police that Jayaseeli's 50 sovereign gold jewellery was missing.
Virugambakkam police have registered a case.
There were no cctv cameras installed in the apartment complex.
