Remedial road work on a section of Rasawa and Lajonia roads in Labasa Town has been completed.
Fiji Roads Authority contracts Fulton Hogan Hiways carried out its road maintenance work in the North.
FHH Stabilising Supervisor (Savusavu Depot) George Hughes said a 12-men FHH crew had repaired 1800 metres of Rasawa and Lajonia roads.
“Deteriorated material was removed from sections, backfilled and stabilised using gravel and cement.
“This was followed by sealing with bitumen and stone chips,” Mr Hughes said.
“During periods of rain, water gets under the pavement through the cracks on the road surface or from the side of the road resulting in the pavement being eroded and, causing potholes,” he said.
