Nine persons were killed and 13 others sustained injuries when two SUVs collided near Hariasar village in Sardarshahar town of Churu district on Sunday, police said. According to police, the tyre of one of the SUV’s burst following which the vehicle lost control and rammed into the other SUV.
“Nine people were killed in the accident between two SUVs. While eight persons, all related to each other, were killed in the accident, a child succumbed to her injuries in the hospital,” said Om Prakash Godara, SHO of Sardarshahar police station.
Churu superintendent of police Barhat Rahul Manhardan said that rescue efforts were initiated soon after the accident.
“The deceased have been identified as Zille Khan, 50, Shamsuddin, 55, Nuniya, 60, Sameera Bano, 25, Simran, 16, Daulati, 45, and three children,” Godara said, adding, “We have lodged an FIR against the driver of the incoming SUV, he said.”
