At Faridkot: Sukhbir Singh Badal holds meeting with workers, sitting MLA gives it a ‘miss’

Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal Sunday held a meeting of workers’ at Faridkot and Mansa in the wake of the upcoming SAD rally in Moga on the SYL issue. The rally, ‘Punjab Bachao Pani Bachao’, is scheduled to be held on December 8.

In Faridkot, however, sitting MLA Deep Malhotra was conspicuous by his absence. It needs to be mentioned that Malhotra has been denied a ticket from here this time and instead, Parambans Bunty Romana, another SAD leader, has been given the ticket. However, hoardings featuring Malhotra have already been put up in various parts of the city in which it had clearly been indicated that he should be given a ticket for the second time. Malhotra, however, was not in town to attend the meeting in which Sukhbir discussed about the arrangements required to be made for the rally.

Sukhbir, however, asserted that ticket distribution was fair. “Win ability was a major criteria in giving tickets to candidates and based on the ground report we have done so. Our party has no issue regarding distribution of tickets. We have already distributed around 80 tickets and the rest will also be done soon.”

Sources revealed that MLAs and ex-MLAs have assured 100 buses per constituency apart from 500 buses for the rally. “This rally is to support Punjab on water issue and before implementation of code of conduct it will be a big show,” Sukhbir said.
