More die in KZN political killings as hearing takes shape

While the killing of politicians continues unabated in KwaZulu-Natal, no date has been set for the first sitting of the R15-million commission of inquiry into the ongoing assassinations.

The premier's office said that it was still finalising the venues and arrangements for witnesses for the hearing.

In the interim, two more councillors have been killed in the province .

On Thursday last week councillor Alwin "Ace" Houston, of ward three in Umuziwabantu municipality, was gunned down shortly after he addressed a public meeting.

ANC proportional representative councillor Thembinkosi Zoleka was shod dead in Margate three weeks ago .

Ndabezinhle Sibiya, spokesman for KwaZulu-Natal premier Willies Mchunu, said yesterday: "The premier will make an announcement soon at the legislature.

"We are urging members of the public to come forward."

The commission, which was set up by the provincial government last month, will investigate politically related murders in KwaZulu-Natal dating as far back as 2011.
