Agriculture Education Day celebrated at KVK

Peruvannamuzhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of the Indian institute of Spices Research celebrated Agriculture Education Day, with around sixty persons – including students from five schools of the district – having visited the KVK to get practical knowledge in agriculture.

KOZHIKODE: Peruvannamuzhi Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) of the Indian institute of Spices Research celebrated Agriculture Education Day, with around sixty persons – including students from five schools of the district – having visited the KVK to get practical knowledge in agriculture.
Experts of the KVK conducted live demonstrations and practical sessions for participants in cutting, budding, methods of propagation layering and oyster mushroom production.
The participants were also taken to the demonstrations of integrated farming system model, vermicomposting unit, Azolla unit, hatchery, goatery, nursery and poly house. They also interacted with the scientists on bio-control methods of pest and disease and soil testing.
Programme Coordinator Dr P Ratha Krishnan said the one-day programme will help students who are keen in taking up farming. “A quiz programme was also organised for the students to create knowledge about existing scenario in the agriculture sector,” he said.
