Fog badly affects air, road and rail traffic in Rajasthan; more than 2 dozen trains affected

JAIPUR: Heavy fog at many parts in the state and neighbouring Delhi, Haryana and Punjab affected air, road and rail traffic across the state. The authorities of the north western railways had to cancel a few trains while many trains were re-scheduled following the continuous delays in arrivals and departures of these trains while the buses on the highways were moving in slower pace and were taking extra time to reach various destinations.
People living in Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh, Churu, Bharatpur, Karauli and Sawai Madhopur woke up to a foggy morning.Many of these places could see the sun only after 12.00 pm onwards on Sunday.
Heavy fog affected many trains as Allahbad to Jaipur was to be cancelled while departure timings of seven trains, including Sriganganagar to Delhi, Sriganganagar to Rishikesh, Sriganganagar to Howrah, Jodhpur to Varanasi, Jodhpur to Howrah, Jaipur to Allahbad, Ajmer to Jammu Tawai, were changed. On the other hand, at least 19 trains were running late due to the heavy fog and poor visibility during early morning and late evening hours.
In the absence of proper communication, the passengers were seen at loggerheads with the railway authorities at various stations. At many places, the abrupt re-scheduling of the trains also caused inconvenience to the passengers travelling to various destinations.
Likewise, the buses on the highways connecting Jaipur to Ajmer, Jaipur to Delhi and Jaipur to Agra were moving in slower pace due to the poor visibility on the national highways. “Buses to Agra were taking 6 to 7 hours to reach due to the poor visibility. The drivers of various buses of Rajasthan State Roadways Transport Corporation (RSRTC) have specifically been told to curtail the speed of the buses for the safety of the passengers,” said an officer with the RSRTC.
Jaipur airport also witnessed a few diversions of flights and a few flights took off late.
