CUTTACK: The Justice BP Das Commission, formed by the state government to recommend reforms in the functioning of the Puri Jagannath temple, extended the deadline for receiving affidavits from public till December 20, on Saturday. The last date for submission of affidavits was December 4.
"It was extended on public request,"said Das. This is the second extension of deadline by the commission.

The panel, on Saturday itself, received at least 364 affidavits of a total of 444. Few non-resident Odias have also sent their suggestions through email. The total number of emails received has reached 100. Improvement in sevayat's behaviour, their wellbeing, security of the temple, disciplined darshans and safety of devotees were among the demands. A few sevayat nijogs also visited the panel's office and submitted their suggestions.
Justice Das said he will try to submit an interim report by Rath Yatra in 2017. The suggestions will be read from December 20 onwards.
