  • Two recent healthcare apps-- one covers major schools of medicine and the other provides a helping hand through the total surgical process

These days we reach out to our smart phones to find solutions for our day-to-day problems. Same goes for our health related issues. We often end up checking various portals for our medical queries and remedies. And now with the rise of healthcare apps, our lives have become easier: We know that help is just a swipe away. Here are two useful apps from Indian start-up, which were exhibited at the Smart Tech Healthcare Summit 2016, which has just ended in Bangalore

Danvanthiri: Across all schools of medicine

Developed by Danvanthiri Medical Tourism Private Limited, this app provides your usual array of health care services that include booking doctor appointments, hospital selection, pharmacy and diagnosis services, and ambulance service.

But the interesting feature is the ‘Save Me’ option, which acts like a SOS button during emergencies. One needs to just open the app and press on the icon and it will automatically connect to a patient coordinator, a person trained to do basic first aid and help the patient get to the nearby hospital immediately. This feature would serve its best purpose for people living alone, especially senior citizens. You can connect with the patient co-coordinator for other services also, which include hospital assistance and transactions. According to Danvantrhiri, this feature is also helpful for the medical tourism industry, where the patient co-coordinator can guide medical tourist in a new place.

Another interesting feature of this app is that it allows people to register for organ and blood donations and also lets you search and connect with available donors and blood banks. The app also gives you the option to choose from various schools of medicine like ayurveda, homeopathy, allopathy, etc.

Currently Coimbatore-based, the developers are planning to grow their reach in other cities in India, starting with Bangalore. The app is available for free download in GooglePlay and App Store.

PSTakeCare : For that surgical journey

pstakecare

Developed by Takecare Technology Pvt. Ltd, this is an Android health app that provides end-to-end assistance for patients who need to undergo a surgery. The app offers a list of various surgeries and hospitals that can perform them. It allows you to compare and shortlist doctors and hospitals based on location, prices, ratings, and reviews.

It also gets you price quotations from different hospitals. The quotations are divided into two categories, PS-Plus and PS-Value. PS-Plus includes price quotations from high-profile hospitals like Fortis, Sir HN Reliance Hospital in Mumbai or Nu Hospitals, BGS Global, etc. in Bangalore. The patient can evaluate the price by comparing the charge of surgery, rooms, treatment type, etc.

PS-Value provides details of value-for-money hospitals and surgeons.

For after -surgery care, the app lets you avail services from Portea, a healthcare service provider that has also funded PSTakeCare.

Currently offering their services in Mumbai and Bangalore, the app will soon be available in other metro cities. It can be downloaded for free at GooglePlay store.
