Sixty-five-year-old folk artist Miao Chunsheng is obsessed with making clay sculptures. His house in a village in Xi'an, from the first floor to the third floor, is filled with vivid clay figurines. Miao had been a cinematographer, businessman and now is a farmer. Miao recognized his artistic gift in childhood. Talent, coupled with life experience, molded him into becoming an excellent clay sculpture artist. He portrays simple, honest, and fair-minded local people in the Guanzhong area (a prosperous section in Shaanxi) using mud. His work reflects the rich folk customs of the community. He's created more than 20,000 artworks, which collectively are called "a textbook on the folk customs of Guanzhong".

Nowadays, more and more people come to order Miao's clay art, and he can earn more than 100,000 yuan ($14,529) each year.
