AMRITSAR: For now, there are no leads in the case of murder of Shukla Seth, relative of Dera Beas chief Gurinder Singh Dhillon and her domestic help Manjit Kaur, whose throats were slit by unidentified assailants. Police are investigating the incident on the lines of burglary and a special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to trace the culprits. According to police reports, Shukla, 82, lived on Maqbool Road with her domestic help, Manjit, 60.

On December 2, watchman Nand Bahadur knocked the door of their house. Since he did not get a response, he informed the police, who entered the house to find the two women's bodies in a pool of blood.
Deputy commissioner of police (investigations) Gagan Ajit Singh said the robbers entered the house and killed the victims. Dhillon attended the last rites of Seth, who was his elder son's mother-in-law. Sources said her bedroom had been ransacked. "The possibility is that Seth identified the burglars and they decided to eliminate both of them. But we are investigating other aspects," said a police official, who did not wish to be named.
