“Sometimes we go hungry or just have snacks for lunch yet we managed to release our first album, we never lost hope,” said Isaroko Rupeni Tubuna from Tubulevu, in Vanua Levu.

The composer and lead singer for the group ‘Voqa Kei Valenisau’ shared their story behind success during the Procera Music Fiji Awards Night.

“As the leader of the group it wasn’t easy for me, we faced a lot of difficulties in funding the group but we thank the lord for his support,” he said.

Mr Tubuna said their families were really supportive and since none of them are employed, singing is their major source of income.

“Three of us are married with our own families now. I always tell the boys that we need to work hard and focus on our work,” added Mr Tubuna.

The group has eight boys and Mr Tubuna along with Apolosi Baroi and Ratu Nemani are the composers.

Voqa kei Valenisau received the Top Artist Vude Award on Sunday.

‘Nasi Dredre Ga’ was one of their song which was popular last year even today, people are still dancing to the song.

“We working on our second volume now,” said Mr Tubuna.
