AHMEDABAD: Even as Mahesh Shah made the explosive revelation that he was indeed a proxy for a group of influential contacts in the Rs 13,860 crore disclosure under IDS, his CA Tehmul Sethna said that he had warned Shah of consequences if he failed to pay the first instalment of the tax.
Sethna insisted Shah had not given him details of disclosure. “Shah just came to me and said that he wanted to make an income disclosure.
I had explained to him the consequences that if Shah fails to pay the first instalment by the due date, the I-T department will be on his trail.”
“Shah must now reveal the details or source of the money he wanted to disclose before the I-T department. If the financial disclosures did not belong to him, then he has to reveal the names of people to whom the incomes belonged to,” added Sethna.
When asked whether Shah had contacted him after he failed to pay his instalment, Sethna said, “I have not met Shah.”
Meanwhile, CM Rupani while addressing CA students urged them not to give ill advice to people like Mahesh Shah.
