Step up campaign on SYL issue: SAD

The top brass of SAD has asked its cadre to intensify its ongoing signature campaign against the construction of SYL canal. The Youth Akali Dal has also held a camp in Phase 3 on Saturday.

YAD district unit chief Harmanpreet Singh Prince said they had started the signature campaign two days ago and were reaching out to maximum people to highlight the SYL issue. He further said that they conducted a camp in phase 3 where many people visited and gave their support to the state government. He said Mohali district would have a major contribution.

He also added that they have asked the youths to come forward to save the water in Punjab as it can not be given to Haryana or any other state as Punjabi farmers have a right on the natural resources of the state. Farmers whose land was acquired for the SYL canal had staged a protest a few days ago and demanded that their land should be given back to them.
