DCC threatens agitation over ration price hike

JAMMU, Dec 3 : District Congress Committee (DCC) Jammu Urban has warned to launch agitation if the Government failed to withdraw the increased prices of rice and wheat/ atta immediately.
A meeting of District Congress Committee (Urban ) Jammu was held here  today at PCC headquarters here under  the chairmanship of its  president  Anil Chopra. All the participants expressed their concern and deep anguish over the hike of prices of ration at Govt Ration depots and demanded that it should be rolled back, immediately.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Chopra said that the Government has  miserably failed to fulfill any of its promises made during the elections. It failed to check the prices of essential commodities like ration, pulses, sugar etc. Instead of putting check on price hike, the State Govt has increased the price of ration at Govt depots, especially the  atta and  rice.  Increase at the rate of Rs 5 per Kg is too,  much and it affects the  common man. He declared that District Congress Committee Jammu will take the matter to streets and launch agitation against this anti-people move of the Govt.
District Congress Committee also demanded holding of elections to the  Municipal Corporations, Municipal Committees, Town Area Committees, as the elections of these bodies are overdue and it should be held before the elections of  Panchayats which are also due.
BB Gupta, Krishan Lal Gupta, Madan Lal Malagar, PS Chohan, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Rashpal Singh, BS Mastana,   Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Gourav Chopra, Naresh Maini, Jaidev Sharma,  Vishva Natha,  Ram Prakash Magotra, JL Koul,  Jai Singh and others attended the meeting.
