Stop roadshows, Ramesh Chennithala tells Thomas Isaac

He said that ration distribution in the state had also come to a standstill and added that those in the priority list were not getting ration.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala has hit out at Finance Minister Thomas Isaac for not anticipating the currency crisis that has disrupted the salary disbursal and failing to approach the RBI sufficiently early seeking remedial steps. “Thomas Isaac should stop his road shows in government treasuries and try to solve the problem,” Mr Chennithala told reporters here on Saturday.

“While Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh governments had sought the help of Reserve Bank of India to meet the currency shortage following demonetisation, the LDF government did nothing. A disaster relief package should be announced to face the situation,” said Mr Chennithala. He said that ration distribution in the state had also come to a standstill and added that those in the priority list were not getting ration. “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi withdrew the currencies, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan scrapped the ration rice,” he said.
